ICS-620 Area Command Team

Course Overview

Focusing on the management of multiple Incident Management Teams or incidents of extraordinary significance that require a higher level of management, ICS-620 develops the roles and responsibilities of Area Command Teams, along with partner agencies and organizations, to manage such large scale incidents. Scenarios are used to demonstrate the coordination between the on-scene Incident Management Teams and the Area Command.

  • Establishing and managing an Area Command Organization
  • Phases of the Area Command Operating Cycle
  • Functional roles and responsibilities of the AC organization, including Area Command and Command Staff relationships with Safety, Liaison, Intelligence and Public Information Officers
  • Functional roles and responsibilities of the AC Organization within the Planning Section
  • Functional roles and responsibilities of the AC Organization within the Logistics and Finance/Admin Sections

Target Audience

Responders subject to filling positions on an Area Command Team or Incident Commanders subject to reporting to an Area Command

Duration

Duration: Three days (24 hours)

Pre-requisite

Successful completion of ICS-300, ICS-400, and on-scene response experience in the functional position they would fill on an Area Command Team
