Stop By and Say Hi to EMSI and URTA at the APPA Conference

Are you attending the American Public Power Association (APPA) Conference in New Orleans right now?  Be sure to stop by and visit the EMSI and URTA team at booth 604.

The APPA is the voice of not-for-profit, community-owned utilities that power 2,000 towns and cities nationwide. The APPA advocates and advises on electricity policy, technology, trends, training, and operations.

With a shared philosophy of enhancing preparedness and incident management capabilities, EMSI and Utility Response Training Associates (URTA) have partnered to offer effective and innovative solutions to the utility industry.  Our collective capabilities span the preparedness and incident management spectrum to include planning, training, exercises, response, and programmatic support.  We are proud to share booth 604 with URTA.

URTA started work within the utility industry in 2010 and brings together a cadre of professionals with extensive experience in incident management, ICS training, and exercise development to support the electrical utility industry.  URTA provides facilitation and delivery solutions for ICS training and IMT development and offers incident-specific support and subject matter expertise during incident response deployments.

EMSI is recognized as a global leader in incident management with a particular expertise in the Incident Command System (ICS).  With highly qualified incident management professionals, EMSI cadre members are drawn from a diverse range of disciplines and average over twenty years of Type 1 all-hazards incident management experience. Assisting a client base that includes government agencies and Fortune 500 companies, including the energy sector, EMSI has delivered tailored solutions to complex twenty-first century challenges since 2000.

As one of the most experienced and capable Incident Management Teams (IMT) in the world, the EMSI IMT is a highly qualified and experienced Type 1 IMT available to support government and private sector entities on a worldwide basis. For three months following Hurricanes Irma and Maria, the EMSI Incident Management Team (IMT) provided incident management support to the New York Power Authority (NYPA) as part of their mutual aid support to Puerto Rico and the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA).  EMSI maintained a constant presence in the NYPA Incident Command Post (ICP), providing no less than four IMT members at any given time, to support Incident Command, Planning, Situation, Resources, and Logistics functions on the NYPA IMT.

Together, EMSI and URTA bring a deep understanding of the core principles of emergency management and incident management, with several decades of combined experience to share with our clients.  We will analyze your current emergency response protocols and tailor incident management solutions to your company’s specific needs. With complimentary values and a commitment to quality, EMSI and URTA work together seamlessly to enhance the capabilities of our clients and prepare them to respond.
