The Incident Commander is responsible for directing and/or controlling resources by virtue of explicit legal, agency, or delegated authority, as well as the overall management of the response. Advanced Incident Commander (ICS-410) build upon the knowledge gained in previous courses, including Intermediate Incident Commander (ICS-310), and focuses on the roles and responsibilities of the Incident Commander during more complex and/or larger scale incidents such as an interagency Type 2 response. Holding students to a higher standard than the ICS-310, this course is an instructor-led training that support learning through discussion, lecture, and active participation in multiple exercises that provides a realistic, hands-on approach to mastering the skills requires of a Type 2 Incident Commander.
