We are pleased to announce that we are now offering an updated Air Operations Branch Director (AOBD) course and will deliver it next month to an oil and gas industry client.
EMSI recently updated this course to incorporate industry best practices and unmanned aerial vehicle/drone usage. Designed for aviation professionals who may find themselves assigned as an AOBD during a response, this course is intended to provide applicable guidance, relevant regulations/policies, and best practices for anyone assuming a position during an incident.
The AOBD course was developed and will be taught by subject matter experts with extensive Incident Command System and aviation management experience. Utilizing EMSI’s new AOBD job aid, this course covers a myriad of topics, to include:
- AOBD roles and responsibilities
- Transitions and briefings
- Aviation organization and facilities
- AOBD support of the Operational Planning Cycle
- Hazard identification
- Risk assessment and management
- Management and oversight
- Aviation administration
- Demobilization
Consistent with EMSI’s commitment to developing and delivering the highest quality incident management training, this course includes all of the hallmark principles of EMSI training courses. Leveraging adult learning methods, the course is an instructor-led training that supports learning through discussion, lecture, and active participation in multiple activities that provide a realistic, scenario-driven approach to mastering the skills required of JIC personnel. This is a two-day course that will prepare assigned aviation responders for the rigors of a real-world incident.
