Where in the World is EMSI?

A busy spring has had EMSI on the move, working domestically and abroad. Outside of the U.S., EMSI has conducted activities in Canada, Nigeria, and Norway this spring.

In March, EMSI conducted a myriad of activities including: Staging Area Manager training for the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) Joint Task Force Civil Support (JTF-CS); Nuclear and Radiological Incident Management Training for the State of New Jersey; ICS-220 and ICS-320 training for the Metropolitan Area Planning Council in Massachusetts; and Liaison and Public Information Officer training for a private sector client.  Additionally, EMSI completed development and delivery of a new incident leadership course for the U.S. Department of Energy and delivered ICS training in Norway.

April showers didn’t slow us down, as EMSI conducted ICS training in Canada and Nigeria, marking our first foray into Africa.  Additionally, as part of our ever-expanding response support services, EMSI supported the City of Boston Mayor’s Office of Emergency Management during its annual Patriots’ Day celebration and the Boston Marathon, providing subject matter expertise and advisory assistance to the Joint Information Center (JIC).  Prior to these special events, EMSI developed and delivered customized just-in-time JIC training and workshops to Boston public information officers.  Finally, EMSI cadre supported Department of Energy’s participation in the Gotham Shield exercise in New York and New Jersey.  Through the Gotham Shield exercise EMSI worked closely with DOD and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

A global leader in the training and application of ICS, EMSI routinely provides training and exercise support to clients all over the world.  In addition to Canada, Nigeria, and Norway, EMSI has also worked in Argentina, Brazil, Italy, Panama, the United Kingdom, and Singapore.  Founded by members of the original FIRESCOPE Task Force that developed ICS in the 1970s, EMSI has played a part in ICS’s development from its earliest inception.  Comprised of national and international all-risk, all-hazard response experts, EMSI’s seasoned cadre gives us a unique background and perspective in dealing with incident and responder needs at every level of government and industry, to include the international community.
